The 4th of July has come and… thankfully… gone. I’m typically not a big fan of this holiday.<\/p>\n
I’m typically not a big fan of this holiday\u00a0because of the fireworks. I’m not talking about the big, beautiful, colorful, explosions in the sky. I like those. I’m talking about the ones that look like lil sticks of dynamite that every beavis and butthead in town thinks they have to light all at once so it sounds like a machine gun being fired off for 5 minutes.<\/p>\n
But this year was much more peaceful thanks to a burn ban that is in effect. We still haven’t had any significant rain. in addition, temps have been well above 100 degrees for a lot of june leaving every field in the state in danger of going up in flames with the flick of a cig.<\/p>\n
i took a road trip in early june with my gf and 2 other girls. the girls were going to a surprise birthday party out of state so i rode along. i mainly kept quiet and let them have a girls weekend out. it turned out to be quite fun.<\/p>\n
the town we went to is the hometown of a rival SEC school which i had briefly been to once before for a Razorback game and even though i didn’t know anyone on this trip it was still oddly comforting. The hosts, the birthday girl’s parents, were very welcoming and we spent a very enjoyable evening in thier home. Outside of me, the only other man at the party was an older gentleman who was the man of the house. the mother made a delicious southern dinner and i sat around a large dinner table and ate with walks of life i’m not exposed to on a day in day out basis. it was circles i probably would not fit in normally but to be allowed to freely hang out, kick back and relax upon our very first meeting was really a special feeling. but by the end of june it was back to the reality of day to day life. i served as a pallbearer at a funeral. it was an aunt by marriage and my parents were closer to her than i. she had been in poor health and is in a much better place now but i know it’s still got to be hard on my uncle and cousins.<\/p>\n i used to watch “the real housewives of new jersey” thinking there is no way people can be that crazy. i don’t like that show as much now that i have seen people close to me experience that same reality. it’s so hard to know people who would benefit from medicine (antidepressants and therapy) but refuse to seek help and thus live thier life in turmoil.<\/p>\n i’m going to start a series of posts and title them “The History of…” The first one is going to be “The history of my automobiles”. Some of them will be down right silly like “The history of my boomboxes”. There is a reason behind all this that may be revealed one day but as of right now, if for nothing else, i will be able to read the posts and remember my past because the older i’m getting the more i’m forgetting. How sad, right? LOL
