So far, Winter 2014 is sure behaving like winter time is suppose to behave. If I was from the street we’d call that representing. Winter 2014 is representing.

It’s been bringing the cold temps and snowy weather like a winter time should. It seems like every week we have had some frozen precip of some sort. Fortunately it’s been playing nice and not causing too many inconveniences. Last Friday evening we had a nice snow fall. It blanketed the ground making things look beautiful the next morning. The roads were clear by the afternoon and life was back to normal.

So what’s been going on? Oh, the Super Bowl.

So the Super Bowl kicked off the month of February. I didn’t play fantasy football this year so I really didn’t follow any teams. This was the only game I actually tried to watch start to finish all season so I really didn’t care who won. I’ve always been a Peyton Manning fan so it would’ve been nice to see him get another one so that was kind of a bummer. And so was the College Football Championship this year. I didn’t follow college football because the Hogs sucked but I did watch the championship game. I was pulling for Auburn, and actually had several reasons to be rooting for them, but any excitement for the 2013 football season was officially killed when Florida State scored in the final seconds of the game to get the win.

The following week was the Grammy’s. With sports sucking so bad I figured surely this would be something entertaining to watch. Being a musician and songwriter I’ve always enjoyed watching the show and imagining what it would be like to be there. As I’ve got older I don’t know if my expectations are too great or what, but each year they seem to lose a little bit more magic for me. There were several artists I was looking forward to seeing this year and when it was over the best I could say was “eh, it was OK.” Personally, I feel that a lot of it has to do with the fact that the Network has so much control over the production. Normally when we hear or see an artist’s work it’s something they, or their people, have had total control over the production. But an award show, i’m sure the artist have to rely on network people who are not always familiar with their sound and unfortunately that seems to have a negative effect on the way things turn out.

But I don’t want to be that guy. The “blah”gger sitting in my bed typing about how bad something is when I couldn’t do that same “something” at any level higher than a high school talent show. So something that is good? American Idol is back on and I always enjoy that show.

Another thing I always enjoy is eating at Red Lobster. If anyone is thinking “big whoopty doo”, the only time I get to eat at Red Lobster is when i’m on a road trip. Since there is not one located within 75 miles of me, yes, it’s a big woopty doo. Within the past two weeks I’ve been to two cities with a Red Lobster and ate there on both trips. Double Woopty Doo! Sure, sometimes I get to thinking that a lot of the appeal is the rarity. If I was able to go every week would it be such a big deal? Who knows but I’d be real surprised if Spicy Habanero Coconut Shrimp ever became too much of a good thing.

Speaking of too much, hopefully I’m going to be cutting back on my eating now that I have a NutriBullet!

nutribullet

Heres the back story. The Friday night before the Super Bowl I was a tag along to a get together at a Bar and Grill. There was a girl who was a friend of a friend who mentioned a NutriBullet in a story she was telling. No one listening to the story, including me, knew what a NutriBullet was. It became a very rememberable word though due to the suggestive guesses some of the girls were making as to what exactly a NutriBullet was. Even though she cleared the air and explained what it was I still didn’t fully understand what she was talking about.

So, Super Bowl Sunday I’m scrolling through the satellite guide a few hours before the game and see a program called “NutriBullet” on Home Shopping Network. Remembering the word, from the suggestive guessing that took place a few nights earlier, I turned over to the channel to check it out. Within 15 mins. I was sold and ready to order one.

Basically it’s a mixer, blender, juicer type thingy… just better. For the past year I’ve been wanting to eat healthier anyway. I’m actually loosing the taste for the junk I’ve been eating. I think my biggest problem is that I haven’t found any solutions convenient enough to work for me. But it doesn’t seem to get any easier than this thing. Part of me feels like it may be a fad gadget but part of me feels like it’s legit. We’ll see.

Hopefully the NutriBlasts (that’s what drinks made by the NutriBullet are called) and these resistance bands I’m starting to use will get me toned up. That’s the goal.
