April 2015 – Mid Spring

This first part of the month was all about taxes and the last part, high school baseball.  We said our final goodbye to one kitty and welcomed in another.

The 1st week of April

Spent most of it finishing up year end  figures for Dad so he could get the taxes done for the business. It always ends up last minute for me and this year I really tried to get it done sooner. I had half of it done by the time Kris had her surgery in Mid February but didn’t get to work on it since then. Other things kept getting in the way but I had reached the point where I had no choice so I had to put all my focus onto getting it done this week. My goal is to enter more info during the year so there’s not such a pile to work on at the end. Now I have time to work on my personal taxes, yippee. :/

The 2nd week of April

Thursday, the 9th – The weather people had predicted severe weather with the possibility tornadoes but it never developed thank goodness.

Saturday, the 11th – We went to Lane’s baseball game to watch him pitch. He was a reliever in the last few innings and had a tough time but It was an annual benefit game so the loss didn’t count. It was his birthday so afterward we took him out to eat.

Sunday, the 12th – I was able to burn some more brush which served as the funeral pyre for Bella. I guess all that bending over to pick up branches aggravated some muscles in my lower back because it hurt the whole following week.

The 3rd week of April

Starting Monday the 13th it rained on and off each day except Thursday and Saturday. Sunday the 19th was a nice until the afternoon when, out of the blue , the skies clouded up and the tornado sirens went off. There was a nasty storm heading our way but fortunately it weakened before it made it to us and all we got was some rain.

Wednesday, the 15th – I finished up my personal taxes about an hour before midnight. That’s an hour before the deadline, I’m such a procrastinator by nature.

Thursday, the 16th – The next night we were on our way to Lane’s baseball game against Dover when Kris’s mom called saying that her dad had driven himself to the emergency room. He had a severe cough and was having a hard time breathing so they admitted him for a couple of days. We stayed for the game but Lane didn’t even get to play.

The 4th week of April

Thursday, the 23rd – Went to Lane’s ballgame and he was the starting pitcher against Subiaco. He pitched 6 innings without giving up any runs earning winning pitcher honors.

Later that night Dylan’s girlfriend, April, brought us a new addition to our kitty family, Bootsy. She had a co-worker who was no longer able to take care of Bootsy and was trying to give her away. When we heard she was declawed we worried she might go to a bad home so we decided to take her in.

My tommy, Charcoal, is taking credit for this bounty but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t the hunter. We had problems with moles for years before I adopted Lil Sis and ever since they’ve been turning up.
